Double duster sees Horizon sink

Horizon Oil NL saw its share price fall nearly 20% to be trading at 6.6c after two wells in two exotic locations turned out to be dusters.

Double duster sees Horizon sink

Horizon's re-entry well in Tunisia, Chott Fejaj-3A, was plugged and abandoned after the partners in the well concluded that the chances of reaching a viable reservoir had become negligible and decided there was no further incentive to continue drilling.

Horizon had a 14.29% interest in the well.

Closer to home, preparations are underway to plug and abandon Horizon's 20%-owned Bosavi-1 well in PNG after wireline logs indicated negligible shows.

Horizon remains exposed to the potential of the PNG foreland through the Kapul well, which is scheduled to be drilled in PPL 227 later this year. Horizon said the combination of Bosavi and Kapul will determine the prospectivity of the foreland.
