EXPLORATION

Santos awarded its first offshore SA acreage

In an announcement that will see oil and gas producer Santos acquire its first exploration acreage in South Australian waters, the company has been awarded a permit in the Duntroon Basin, about 70 kilometres south of Port Lincoln, off South Australia's Eyre Peninsula.

The Federal and South Australian governments have jointly awarded the Duntroon Exploration block EPP 32, which covers 5,315 sq.km and is in water depths between 50 and 3,300m.

"The Duntroon Basin acreage adds to our growing off-shore acreage portfolio and in particular builds on our offshore southern Australia acreage," said Santos managing director, John Ellice-Flint.

Santos will have a 100 per cent interest in EPP32. Santos is a major Australian oil and gas explorer and producer with interests in all Australian hydrocarbon provinces. The Santos Group also operates in the USA, Indonesia and PNG.
