Tanggulangin gas discovery for Novus

Sydney-based oil and gas producer, Novus Petroleum, has a new gas discovery in the Brantas PSC, East Java. Its Tanggulangin-1 well, the first of its three well exploration program in Brantas, discovered gas in several reservoir zones.

A total of 33m net gas pay has been estimated from logs in the three shallow reservoir zones, according to Novus. In addition, the well has encountered additional reservoir zones with strong gas shows in the open-hole section.

The company said after completion of the Tanggulangin well, the rig will move to spud a well on the Carat prospect about five kilometres to the south of Wunut. The third well in this drilling campaign is Grati-1, which will target the Pliocene reservoirs in a fault closed structure. The combined pro-drill volume estimates for these three prospects were about 200 billion cubic feet.
