Voyager, Roc, Bounty pick up prime Perth Basin permits

Three Australian explorers, two of them minnows, have picked up stakes in two newly released blocks in the emerging offshore Perth Basin, very close to the offshore Cliff Head discovery.

Roc Oil (operator) has picked up 50% of blocks W01-22 and W01-24 respectively, while Bounty and Voyager each have 22.5% of the blocks.

Executives at Bounty and Voyager are very happy about winning the blocks.

"Together with other holdings, Voyager now has the most extensive coverage of any company over the emerging Perth Basin oil province," the company said.

Voyagers technical directors believe that similar oil-prone geology to the recent Cliff Head and Hovea oil discoveries is replicated in the licences and a number of promising structures have already been identified.

Bounty chief Tom Fontaine said "Combined with our existing interests in TP/15 and the Woodada gas field, the permits consolidate Bounty's position as a significant Perth Basin explorer and producer."

The operator of Cliff Head project, Roc Oil, will be operator of W01-24 and will immediately begin planning a 2D seismic program to infill the current grid and confirm prospects.

The mandatory work program for W01-24 in the first three years includes the reprocessing of seismic data, the acquisition of new 2D and 3D seismic and the drilling of two exploration wells. The main commitment for W01-22 is the acquisition of 2D seismic.
