Gocerler-6 adds to Amity's delight

Amity Oil has continued its long run of success in Turkey this time with the Gocerler-6 development well, which has intersected a 10 metre net gas pay between 1235-1248m.

The well was designed to produce gas from the 1232 sand, which is around 35 metres above the main producing unit in the field. The Gocerler field has stacked reservoirs and this well is targeting the best developed part of the 1232 sand unit.

Production from the Gocerler gas field has previously started to slowly decline in recent months due to cold winter conditions and declining reservoir pressure in the main producing unit.

The company is hoping the Gocerler-6 well will reverse the trend once it is tied in and field compression is installed. The well will augment production from the upper stratigraphic levels and be in production before the end of May 2004. Compression will be installed by July 2004 and is expected to significantly lift Gocerler production rates.

Gocerler-6 is in Petroleum Exploration Licence AR/AOI/3589,which forms part of "Area A" of the Thrace Joint Venture and is located approximately 120 kilometres west of Istanbul in Turkey's onshore Thrace Basin.

Amity currently shares a 50-50 ownership of the permit with Türkiye Petrolleri A.O.
