Talisman strikes again offshore Vietnam

Talisman Energy has made an offshore gas discovery at its Vietnamese Block 46-Cai Nuoc, located in the area known as the Hoa Mai prospect. It is positioned next to the Talisman operated PM-3 CAA Malaysia/Vietnam block and nine kilometres from the company's PM-3 CAA Bunga Kekwa C wellhead platform.

The Hoa Mai is estimated to have between 70 to 100 bcf of recoverable gas reserves and Talisman is planning to tie-back production on the block with its recently installed PM-3 CAA facilities.

"This is an excellent result from Talisman's first exploration well in Vietnam. Year-to-date we have drilled five out of five successful exploration and appraisal wells on our Malaysia/Vietnam holding [and] this success further reinforces our belief in the upside potential of the area and demonstrates that our strategy for the area is working," said Dr Jim Buckee, President and CEO of Talisman.

Talisman Vietnam Ltd is the operator with 33.15% in Block 46-Cai Nuoc. The other stakeholders are PetroVietnam Investment & Development Co (30%) and Petronas Carigali (Vietnam) Sdn Bhd (36.85%).
