SE Gobe-13 sidetrack completed

CUE Energy Resources says the SE Gobe-13 development well sidetrack in PNG has now been completed as a water injector to provide pressure support for the Iagifu sandstone reservoir.

SE Gobe-13 sidetrack completed

Cue, a junior partner in the well with a 3.29% stake, said the pressure support provided by the water injector would “result in incremental field oil recovery of around 1.75 million barrels”.

Cue said the Parker 140 drilling rig would now be moving to the SE Gobe 14 well.

Last month, Cue advised that the SE Gobe-13 appraisal well had to be sidetracked after the intersection of several thrust faults caused it to miss the objective Iagifu sandstone reservoir.

The well had reached a depth of 1705m and operator Oil Search was preparing to drill ahead in a 12¼-inch hole.

Participants in the SE Gobe unit are Australian Gas Light (27.35%), Oil Search (25.55%), Southern Highlands Petroleum (23.69%), Santos (9.39%), Ampolex (5.95%), Cue, Merlin Petroleum (2.78%) and Petroleum Resources Gobe (2%).
