TANAMI Energy has big plans for its expanding holdings off the Western Australian coastline, hoping to drill a campaign of wells to test large prospects in the Cerberus and Santa Cruz projects from late next year.

Tanami is building a portfolio of assets.

Carnarvon Petroleum, which has thrown itself into the development of the Bedout Sub-basin and the Buffalo oil field in the Timor Sea, secured the Cerberus blocks after extending the same exploration philosophy that supported its initial Phoenix South Triassic oil and gas discovery across the entire North West Shelf.
 
It bet a big five-well work program on Cerberus (EP 490, TP/27, EP 491 and EP 475), but its success elsewhere means it has passed the blocks to private Perth-based Tanami, which first raised its head above the parapet by purchasing Tap Oil's share in the undeveloped Amulet discovery almost two years ago.
