ORIGIN Energy returns to onshore Western Australia after farming into Canning Basin permits held by Buru Energy and Rey Resources with plans to drill the Rafael conventional oil prospect early next year, though for the larger company the move seems more gas-focussed in the long term.
It left the state when it sold its upstream exploration vehicle Lattice Energy to Beach Energy in 2017 where it was active in the Perth Basin further south.
