Global energy spending projected to reach record $2 trillion in 2022

Global energy spending this year is projected to reach a record high US$2.1 trillion, Rystad Energy said in a note on Friday. That number comes amid surging oil, gas, LNG and power prices together with the European Union's goal of becoming less dependent on Russian energy. Post-Covid-19 pandemic inflation will also catapult global energy spending this year, the consultancy said.
