ABB appoints new Australian chief

ABB Australia has appointed Mr John Gaskell as its new president and managing director. Mr Gaskell is an UK national and rejoins ABB from Rolls-Royce, where he was president of the Washington DC-based Global Energy Business.

Mr Gaskell joined ABB in 1979 and spent much of his early career in Iran, Sweden, Saudi Arabia and Dubai, where he held various senior executive positions in the power transmission, distribution and generation sectors.

He succeeds Mr Tommie Bergman, who has retired after 32 years with the ABB Group.
