WA software firm wins big Woodside contract

A fledging WA software company has won a big design and upgrade contract with Woodside Petroleum.

Empired, which was formed earlier this year as a merger between BigRedSky and Tusk Technologies, will upgrade Woodside's server environments and design a Windows XP-based desktop standard operating environment.

Empired managing director Justin Miller said Woodside was to be commended on its decision to put its confidence in the competence of a local supplier.

"Empired has proved that WA companies can compete with international suppliers," Mr Miller said.

Mr Miller would not be drawn on how much the contract was worth however said it was "over seven figures."
