Rig workers usually fly from Dili airport, the closest hub to the project, but it is understood Phillips halted the arrangement while the civil unrest was being quelled and rerouted the flight from Darwin direct to the rig, which is drilling the development wells for the project.

The Darwin chopper leg involves a three hour flight, a flight length over water operators like Phillips will usually try to avoid.
