The John Holland Group has become one of Australia's largest construction contractors after announcing the successful completion of its takeover of Transfield Construction.
In addition to taking on an additional 800 former Transfield employees, the acquisition increased the order book by $800 million, bringing current uncompleted work in hand to more than $1.5 billion, the company said in a statement to the market.
John Holland also announced the winning of a $67 million desalination plant contract for the Burrup Peninsula.
