Alaska deal's SNE lookalike

ANALYSTS say Oil Search has timed its run perfectly to buy a 26% operating stake in the 500 million barrels-plus Nanushuk oil discovery in Alaska North Slope - a deal which is similar to Woodside Petroleum's buy into the SNE find offshore Senegal.

That's ironic, really, considering that Woodside made a failed bid for Oil Search while the PNG-focused player was still figuring out how to get ExxonMobil and Total to the table to use surrounding resources...
