Carbon capture finding favour and attracting interest again: CO2CRC CEO David Byers

Organiser and CO2CRC CEO David Byers told Energy News there is "very much a sense that carbon capture and storage is gaining momentum globally and in the US, Japan and Norway particularly".

"Our own CO2CRC is in a bit of a regeneration phase," he said.

The CO2CRC was a Cooperative Research Centre formed in 2003, and has after its term limit ended it was allowed to keep the name as the brand internationally was too strong to bin.

The CO2CRC is now working on the Otway storage project, about to enter its third phase, a research project on injecting CO2 three kilometres underground at a site between Warrnambool and Port Campbell in Victoria.
