India to sign deal for Aussie LNG

INDIA and Australia are likely to sign a deal in September that would see India import 2.5MMtpa of Australian LNG, Indian Petroleum Secretary MS Srinivasan said at a roadshow in New Delhi promoting Australian acreage releases.

Srinivasan said the gas was expected to start arriving at Indian company Petronet LNG’s Kochi terminal in September 2009. But the Press Trust of India reports that the gas is to be sourced from the Gorgon project and it would not be delivered before April 11 as Gorgon is suffering delays.
