This volume comprises ExxonMobil’s entire share of annual Gorgon production. The company had long been rumoured to be canvassing potential buyers in India.

Almost all of Gorgon operator Chevron’s 50% share of the project’s gas is already committed to Japanese buyers, while Royal Dutch Shell has committed 500,000 tonnes of LNG to an Indian customer and the remainder to a Mexican receiving terminal, partly owned by Shell and now under construction.
