Woodside gets FWWP to Browse LNG options

The Foster Wheeler-Worley Parsons (FWWP) JV will evaluate the technical considerations for an offshore LNG facility. The value of the contract has not been disclosed.

The Browse Gas Project is estimated to contain reserves of over 20 trillion cubic feet of gas and 300 million barrels of condensate.

Woodside aims to develop Browse as Western Australia’s second LNG production hub by 2011-2014. An offshore processing plant drawing gas from Commonwealth Waters could not be compelled to meet Western Australian gas reservation demands.

FWWP is also providing pre-feasibility services to Pluto prior to the front-end engineering and design phase. The JV is using Shell LNG technology that is also being applied in the North West Shelf Phase Five Train now under construction.
