Wheatstone sends first cargo

THE $34 billion Wheatstone LNG project shipped its long-awaited first cargo to equity owner Jera in Japan yesterday, triggering handover of the new Port of Ashburton facilities to Western Australia’s state government.

Chevron Australia managing director Nigel Hearne said the project was Australia's first third-party natural gas hub enabling future development of the vas gas resources offshore Western Australia.
