Third bidder for AWE

JAPAN’s Mitsui, a long-time ally and partner of AWE, has put its oar in the water with spoiler bid valuing AWE at some A$600 million that could derail a scheme implementation agreement with Mineral Resources and sink a cash bid by China Energy Reserve and Chemical Group.

Mitsui is offering 95c in cash, more than MinRes' offer of 83c in cash and shares, while CERCG is offering 73c in cash.   Mitsui's off-market offer is non-binding, but could result in a formal takeover...
