NEW Zealand’s abandoned Tui oil field will see 230 tonnes of subsea equipment removed as the government progresses decommissioning the field at taxpayer expense after Tamarind Taranaki fell into liquidation in 2019.

It was a subsidiary of Tamarind Resources, headquartered in Malaysia, and still in operation. 
 
All up, eight wells must be plugged and abandoned.
