Hapag-Lloyd first in world to convert large container ship to LNG

ONE of the world’s largest shipping companies, Hapag-Lloyd, this week announced it would be the first to convert a large container ship from diesel to LNG by retrofitting its 15,000 twenty-foot equivalent vessel, named ‘Sajir,’ to run on LNG in preparation for incoming International Maritime Organisation requirements regarding sulphur content in fuel.
