NGC appointed Wilde to the casual vacancy arising from the retirement of Sir Ross Jansen at NGC's annual meeting on October 30, 2003.

Chairman, Greg Martin, said Wilde's wide business, government and community experience would add greatly to NGC and its board.

Wilde was a minister in the 1984-1990 government and, since resigning from Parliament in 1992 was Mayor of Wellington until 1995. Her business experience includes roles as a company director, senior manager and management consultant.
