AWE trims NZ acreage

AWE'S review of the exploration potential of New Zealand continues in the aftermath of last year's unsuccessful four-well offshore Taranaki campaign, with the company now getting out of Anadarko's Deepwater Taranaki lease.

Sydney-headquartered AWE said in its March quarterly results that it had elected to withdraw from the lease PEP 38451 before drilling a deepwater wildcat well in the permit scheduled for early 2012.
