The theme of this year’s congress is Delivering Sustainability – Opportunities and Challenges for the Energy Industry and it is expected to bring in thousands of participants from the 98 member countries of the World Energy Council and more.
The Sydney Congress is expected to provide a venue for the global energy industry to identify practical solutions to achieve sustainability in energy supply whilst balancing the requirements of technical, economic and social feasibility and acceptability.
These will be facilitated via a keynote addresses and Round Table sessions between leading figures in the industry and within related/complementary sectors, a Ministerial Forum chaired by the Australian Energy Minister which will include ministers from various other nations and through discussion session and poster presentations from experts in the field.
In conjunction with the Congress will be the World Energy International Exhibition. Confirmed participants include the Australian Institute of Petroleum, BHP Billiton, Ernst & Young, ExxonMobil, Gas de France, the International Energy Agency, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd, Rio Tinto, Saudi Aramco, Siemens Power Generation, Royal Dutch/Shell, Woodside, the US Department of Energy amongst many others.
