Melbourne-based Carpenter Pacific Resources was named in December 2004 when a moribund spun-off mining arm of 70-year old island trading company Carpenter Pacific was revived as an oil and gas explorer with interests in the US.
But just this month Carpenter Pacific Resources board received shareholder approval to change its name to Marion Energy which comes from Marion County in the northeast corner of Texas where it took up its first leases.
