Conference to give tips on US energy opportunities

US oil and gas prices are likely to continue to grow, according to Goldman Sachs analysts. This environment helps to create opportunities for innovative and informed Australian oil and gas explorers and investors, say organisers of the US Oil & Gas Downunder Conference, which will be held in Perth on March 30-31.

Conference organisers, Australian Journal of Mining and the American Chamber of Commerce, aim to provide some insight for investors and industry professionals in making the most out of the booming US energy markets.

Independent corporate analyst and author of Stock Analysis Peter Strachan will be giving an overview of the current boom in Australian energy companies developing projects in the US.

“There are 35 Australian companies with interests in the USA’s oil and gas business,” Strachan wrote recently.

“This number has recently risen at a rate of two to three per month as new companies are formed to buy, explore or expand their interests to include projects in the USA.

“Small Australian public companies are now playing a significant role in the development and re-development of oil and gas assets in the world’s largest energy market. One of the key issues for Australian companies working in the USA is the need to have local knowledge and trusted partners. It’s a tough game and the waters are full of sharks.”

Other speakers include: Wood Mackenzie managing consultant (gas & power) David Bradley who will give an analysis of the future of North American oil and gas supplies; Argonaut Limited Group managing director Edward Rigg, who will discuss the latest experiences with raising finance and initial public offering listings for oil and gas explorers; Trend Exploration Consultants, Houston, principal Neville Henry, who will discuss forming partnerships and drill rig scarcity; and American Chamber of Commerce chief executive Charles Blunt, who will give some insight into doing business in the US.

Several petroleum companies will hold sessions that will likely shed light on their current projects, and their successes and failures.

The conference will be held at the Sheraton Hotel, Perth.
