Meanwhile on Saturday night in Sydney, by an unlikely coincidence, the local teams in two different codes lost in one-point thrillers to the reigning premiers. The Sydney Swans went down to the West Coast Eagles, 73-74, while the NSW Waratahs lost to the Crusaders 33-34.
But at least the Waratahs showed some skill and enterprise. They are well and truly out of the premiership race, but their last few games should be much better than the rubbish they delivered in the early part of the season.
Elsewhere, the Queensland Reds cleverly avoided being beaten this week by taking a bye.
This coming weekend there will be two Investec Super 14 games played in Australia.
On Saturday, the Reds will host the Durban Sharks in Brisbane. The Reds say second rower Hugh McMeniman, fullback Clinton Schifcofske, centre Andrew Brown, playmaker Berrick Barnes and hooker Sean Hardman are all available to play after having recovered from injuries.
On Sunday, the Brumbies will play the Waratahs in Canberra. With both these teams having found form again, this could be an exciting match.
The Force starts a three-game road trip with a visit to Christchurch, New Zealand to play the Crusaders, who have not lost at home for more than three years.
