Mosaic proves up Taylor extension

Mosaic Oil's Taylor-18 well in the Surat Bowen Basin has encountered about 2.5m of net gas-condensate pay, confirming the presence of interpreted attic reserves updip of its Taylor-4 and Taylor-12A producers.

Mosaic proves up Taylor extension

The pay was encountered over an interval from 1994-1999m in the Showgrounds Sandstone formation.

Managing director Lan Nguyen said the well proves the company's strategic intent of moving 3P (proven, probable and possible) and 2P (proven and probable) hydrocarbon reserves into proven producing reserves within its Surat-Bowen Basin producing assets.

The Taylor-18 well will be cased and suspended before being completed for production within two weeks by a workover rig currently operated by Mosaic in the area.

Taylor-18 is expected to be connected to the Taylor gathering network by as early as the end of June, the company said.

Taylor-18 is about 350m from the tie-in point at the Taylor-4 well.

Mosaic Oil has a 100% interest in PL 49.
