LNG an option for WA

FRIDAY'S comment piece [‘WA gas supply – a modest suggestion'] has sparked a chorus of agreement ...

LNG for WA is certainly worth consideration, writes Greg Veitch.

However, the facility should be designed for reasonably regular LNG deliveries - a dedicated ship capable of loading at multiple projects would make sourcing of LNG easier.

It is not easy to extract an LNG cargo out of multiple annual delivery programs at short notice.

I would suggest that a better place to put it would be Bunbury harbour, close to major gas consuming industry & having the ability to back-pressure the main gas trunkline from the NW Shelf (hence also increasing the trunkline's capacity to Perth).

Of course there is the small question about the application of world pricing for LNG deliveries!

Dear Editor,

There is more gas than we can handle offshore WA.

Problem is that in Australia we are thinking export only, not only with gas but with any other raw products.

There is only one pipeline coming from WA's north and delivery to the State must be improved.

Either more pipelines with a different connection terminal or ships. A set-up similar to the Woodside operations in the US is certainly a viable alternative.

I guess the other problem is also linked to the fact that we accept a political system that is governing us down to gas ovens.

There is joke saying that Noah will never build his boat in WA because when god realises how much administration we are facing, the flood will never happen in WA.

Of course as we are only interested in exporting we have no incentive in fighting for our own long term well-being.
