THE Canadian government has started the approvals process for Progress Energy Canada's Pacific Northwest LNG project with the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency calling for public comment on the project.
Progress Energy plans to build an 18 million tonne per annum LNG facility and marine terminal on Lelu Island near Prince Rupert in British Columbia.
The gas from the plant is to be sold into Asia.
