Uplifting win

MARINE crane maker MacGregor has won an order for two subsea cranes from South Korean shipyard Hyundai Heavy Industries.

The active heave-compensated cranes will have a safe working load of 100 tonnes and 25t respectively.

They will be fitted to a 160m heavy construction vessel being built at the yard for global offshore specialist Subsea 7.

The MacGregor subsea cranes will support the vessel's year round global deployment in complex deepwater and ultra-deepwater offshore construction operations, for which the highest levels of load handling precision and reliability are required.

The ship is due to be delivered in July 2015.

The order follows a recently announced contract of six AHC subsea cranes for three flexlay pipelaying offshore vessels that are also destined for Subsea 7.
