Bechtel wins Louisiana LNG FEED

LOUISIANA LNG Energy has awarded engineering giant Bechtel the front-end engineering and design contract for its midscale LNG export terminal.

"Bechtel brings world-class expertise in the engineering, design and construction of LNG liquefaction projects coupled with leadership in modularisation and Gulf Coast self-perform work," LLNGE CEO Jim Lindsay said.

The proposed terminal is targeting 2 million tonnes per annum of LNG capacity and first operations in late 2017.

Located south of New Orleans at Mile Marker on the Mississippi River, the area has existing deepwater access.

LLNGE said the project would serve export markets as well as domestic markets, plus had scope for further expansion.
