According to Egyptian news site Aswat Masriya, the rig operator Belayim Petroleum Company's (also known as Petrobel) chairman Atef Hassan said no one was injured from the fire.
The fire is believed to have started in the rig's engine room. The offshore platform's name was not revealed while this equipment was leased from an undisclosed "American drilling firm".
