Strong flows from Jeruk-3

IN ONGOING flow-testing, the Jeruk-3 appraisal well flowed oil over at a choked-back rate of about 3200 barrels per day, operator Santos said this morning.

Strong flows from Jeruk-3

The oil flowing from the well has a gas-to-oil ratio of 230 cubic feet per barrel through a 6.5mm choke and the flow rate has been constrained by surface facility limitations.

The oil is coming from the open-hole interval 4939m to 4978m measured depth (4663m to 4696m total vertical depth below surface).

Before testing, a 9m core sample was retrieved from the lower section of the test interval.

The forward program is to complete the current testing operations and then drill ahead to continue the evaluation of the reservoir interval.

Jeruk-3 is a deviated well to penetrate the objective Kujung carbonate in the central crestal area of the Jeruk structure.

Jeruk is a major discovery that probably holds at least 170 million bbl and perhaps much more, but it has proven to be much more geologically complex than at first anticipated.

Jeruk-3 is being drilled in the Sampang PSC, offshore Indonesia, about 1.8km west of Jeruk-1 and 40km south-east of Surabaya.

The participants in the Sampang PSC are Santos, which holds a 40.5% stake, Singapore Petroleum Sampang (36%), Cue Sampang (13.5%) and PT Petrogas Oyong Jatim (10%).

The Jeruk partners are Santos, the operator which holds a 40.5% stake, Singapore Petroleum Sampang (19.64%), Cue Sampang (7.36%), PT Petrogas Oyong Jatim (10%) and Medco Strait Services (22.5%).
