Japan strengthens resolve on Iranian field

DESPITE political pressure from the United States, opinion is gathering in Japan to go ahead with a multibillion-dollar deal to develop Iran's Azadegan oil field.

The project is currently on hiatus until the Japanese government gives clearance to go ahead.

Other companies, like Europe's Technip SA and Norway's Statoil ASA have gone against the American pressure and have stated openly that they are in Iran for the long term.
