Iraqi terminals shut down by power cut, strong winds

IRAQ'S southern oil terminals of Basra and Khor al-Amaya have been shut down since 22 January due to strong winds and a power cut, according to an Associated Press report.

The shutdown has, apparently, left tankers backed up in the Gulf waiting to be loaded with Iraqi crude. High winds and rough seas are also preventing ships from docking.

Power-related shutdowns are common in post-invasion Iraq and adverse weather has previously affected the loading of crude from the two offshore terminals .
