Jingemia sidetrack intersects big oil column

JINGEMIA partner Victoria Petroleum says the newly completed Jingemia-10 well a sidetrack of Jin...

Operator Origin Energy drilled to a total depth of 2587 metres and wireline logs indicated the target Dongara Sandstone was intersected at 2458 metres, about 40 metres above the presumed Jingemia field oil-water contact.

Log interpretation indicates oil saturations throughout the Dongara Sandstone similar to the Jingemia-4 well, which has flowed oil at rates of up to 4,814 barrels of oil per day from its 29-metre oil column.

Origin has now run 178mm production casing. Completion of the well and connection to the Jingemia Oil Field production facility is expected to begin shortly.

The drilling rig will now move to drill the next development well on the Jingemia Oil Field, Jingemia-5, said Victoria Petroleum managing director John Kopcheff.

“This well will be brought onto production quickly providing a high level of confidence that the Jingemia Oil Field wells, 10 and 4, when on stream together in the very near future will be capable of producing oil at rates of up to 5,000 barrels per day in a robust oil price regime,” Kopcheff said.

Jingemia joint venture partners are: Origin Energy Developments Pty Ltd (operator 49.2%), Arc Energy (33.1%), Voyager (11%), Victoria Petroleum Offshore (5%), Norwest Energy (1.3)%, Roc Oil (0.25%) and JK Geary (0.14%)
