The well has encountered a 25.8m net oil column in the Lower Iagifu sandstone reservoir, overlain by a 25.4m net gas column in the Upper Iagifu sandstone reservoir, the company said. No hydrocarbon contacts were penetrated by the well.
Cue, which holds a 3.29% stake in the well, said production was expected to begin mid-April, at an estimated rate of 1500-2000 barrels of oil per day.
The well was a follow-up to the nearby SEG-11 well, which was recently responsible for extending the significant SE Gobe field.
Oil Search is operator of the SE Gobe unit, holding a 52.9% stake. Southern Highlands Petroleum (23.69%), Santos (9.39%) and Ampolex (5.95%) are also partners.
