Beach, Cooper spud oil wildcat

BEACH Petroleum and Cooper Energy have started drilling the Sheringa-1 oil exploration well, in C...

The prospect was matured for drilling following interpretation of the regional 3D seismic survey acquired in the permit earlier this year.

Primary targets are the Namur, Birkhead and Hutton formations, all of which are productive at the Christies oil field, located 3km away.

The well is also located about 2.5km south of the Silver Sands oil field.

Cooper said it was located about 3km south-southeast of the Christies Oil Field and 2.5km south of the Silver Sands Oil Field.

Sheringa-1 will target 500,000 barrels of recoverable oil in the Namur reservoir, and 400,000 barrels in the Hutton reservoir, all at the P50 level of confidence.

The Poolowanna Formation is a secondary objective.
