The boardroom shuffle comes at a crucial time for Shell Australia with the company heavily involved in negotiations with governments to obtain support for its floating liquefied natural gas project in the Timor Sea.
In other Shell news, the company has paid the state of Alabama $US27 million to settle pending litigation over the underpayment of natural gas royalties. The State sued Shell in June 1999, accusing the company of underpaying royalties on lease contracts for natural gas drilled in Mobile Bay from 1991 to 2000.
