The Department's Executive Director, Safety and Health, Peter Dent, said Brian Olver would be based in Townsville and be responsible for the monitoring and assessment of safety at gas operations in North Queensland.

Dent said that Olver had considerable industrial experience in process engineering and safety roles with various companies engaged in oil refining, hydrometallurgy and chemicals manufacture.
