At its peak the plant was operating six trains, before two were shutdown four years ago. The company will now target 70-72 shipments per year, equating to about 4.03 million metric tonnes per year. Before dropping to 30 cargoes a year in 2009.
ExxonMobil has been supplying the plant with about one billion cubic feet of gas per day but the ageing Arun field in Aceh is declining fast and operations will cease in 2015 unless a major new gas discovery is brought on line in the next few years.
