Gas' share of NEM drops as renewables ramp up: EQ

NATIONAL Energy Market generation overall to December was the same as a year earlier but gas-fired generation was down 809 gigawatt hours, or by a fall of 44%, while coal was down 378GWh as renewables’ took the place of both, according to consultancy firm EnergyQuest’s quarterly finishing December.

This is in line with its last quarterly finishing September, which noted more renewables coming on line and less gas-fired generation going into the NEM.
