Japanese LNG imports dip in 2019 

JAPAN’s LNG imports dipped in the quarter just gone thanks to a combination of warmer weather and an ongoing campaign of nuclear restarts, with a 9% slide reported for the period ending March 31 with imports standing at 22.2 million tonnes.  March imports were 7.3MMt, down 8% compared with March 2018.

Nuclear and warm weather cutting Japanese LNG imports

In the same period Tokyo Gas and Shell negotiated the first coal-linked LNG contract, signalling for many another step away from the standard, oft disliked, oil-linked contract.
