Permian gas flaring hits new high of 660MMcfpd

GAS flaring and venting in the US Permian Basin in Texas has hit a new record of 661 million cubic feet per day thanks to no takeaway capacity and pipeline outages, new information from Rystad Energy shows, with the acreage BP took from BHP’s shale sale flaring and venting a high of 10% of its gas.

BP’s BHP acreage among worst culprits for Permian gas flaring

This number represents double the production of the US most productive gas facility in the Gulf of Mexico, Shells Mars-Ursa  at 260-270MMcfpd.
