New gas use record for Victoria

THE Australian Energy Market Operator has found Victorian gas use spiked with record-breaking demand on August 9, broadly in line with findings from EnergyQuest that found east coast gas use rose 36% in July over the previous year but was still below even higher June levels.

However while EQ noted the rise in gas-powered generation AEMO suggests August's record breakers were down to cold driving residential gas use in heating, cooking and possibly longer and hotter showers. ...
