BP leaves industry organisations but backs APPEA, BCA

BP announced overnight it was withdrawing from three industry associations out of the 30 it is a member of, citing its ambition to be net-zero by 2050 and its concerns these organisations were not aligned with its goals or the Paris climate targets.  A further five were deemed ‘partially aligned’.

Insists membership must be in line with climate coals 

It will leave American Fuel and Petrochemical Manufacturers which Shell and Total have already quit, along with the Western States Petroleum Association and the Western Energy Alliance.
