AUSTRALIA’S east coast will get its LNG import terminal with Squadron Energy boss Stuart Johnston confirming to the AFR today the Port Kembla project will go ahead, even as gas contracts fail to materialise and a final investment decision not made.

He said he hoped the terminal would be "up and running" by 2023, when shortfalls in the southern states are predicted to start appearing by the Australian Energy Market Operator.
